The 317MW Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, located between 17km and 23km off the coast of North Norfolk in the UK, will comprise of 88 wind turbines and generate around 1.1TWh per annum. This is enough clean energy to power almost 220,000 British homes. Compared to fossil fuels that is a reduction of 500,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
The wind farm is owned equally by Statoil and Statkraft through joint-venture company Scira Offshore Energy Limited. Statoil is operator for the project during the development phase and Scira will be the wind farm operator once the project is complete.
CHPV were contracted as the projects official media team and have, over the last 2 years, taken thousands of digital images and many of hours of stunning High-Definition footage documenting every step. From the digging of the first trenches, to lay the on-shore power cables, to the complete installation of the first turbine we have captured every detail.
Further to shooting Stills and Video for the project CHPV have released a number of Project Update movies, all of which can be viewed at www.scira.co.uk, We also edited a number of mini-movies designed to be used as part of an interactive information system at the Mo in Sheringham, a centre dedicated to keeping local residents up to date with the projects progression as well as helping them understand how a wind farm works and why it will be beneficial to Norflok.
We recently supplied installation footage to the BBC for Countryfiles segment on the growing UK windfarm sector www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b016c3vm We have prepared hundreds of images for Sciras PR requirements, from newsletter publications and website updates to huge stands for exhibitions and conferences. Many of our images have even been made into Canvas prints and have been placed in Sciras offices.
